Streetly Men’s 1st Team clinch Treble

Streetly’s Men’s Ist team have had their most successful ever season in 2007 by becoming champions of Birmingham, Warwickshire and Staffordshire. After winning the Birmingham Area League title and the Staffordshire Premier Streetly went on to play Warwick Boat Club, the Coventry and Warwick league champions to establish the top club in Warwickshire. In this Champion of Champions event, held at the Warwickshire LTA centre at Billesley Streetly defeated Warwick Boat Club in a tough final 4 – 0.
	The team of Matt Brennan, James Garton, Richard Macey and Dan Dawson, played some superb tennis and only dropped 1 set to take the title. Streetly, have for the first time, achieved this unique treble becoming the strongest Mens team in Birmingham, Staffordshire and Warwickshire.
2007 has without doubt been Streetly’s 1st team’s most successful year ever. The team developed over the last few years has a balance of youth and experience and the future of men’s tennis at Streetly looks particularly bright with more juniors coming through the mini tennis and performance programmes.
